Does pure royal jelly expire or go bad if refrigerated?

I have had pure royal jelly in my frig for years. Sometimes I forget to take it. I began to take it again for several months and noticed an expiration date on the jar. I was told it never goes bad. Do pure royal jelly go bad?

Was this a powdered royal jelly or a fresh, liquid royal jelly?

Royal Jelly out of freezer - is it bad now?

by chris
(salt lake city, utah)

My sister sent me royal jelly in the mail with a cold pack a day before we left on vacation without telling me. We just got home and its been 6 days and probably 4 days sitting in the box at warmer temp. Has it gone bad or lost all of its great properties?

Hi Chris,
Hard to say but when it goes bad, it develops a rotten smell/taste. Now, fresh royal jelly tastes bad even when it is fresh, so try to differentiate between the strong, natural smell versus a rotten smell.

It might still be ok and have some vitality left but it is likely that is has lost some of its value.

Has it gone bad ?

by Lily Beetle

I bought some pre-mixed royal jelly to take as a wait for the fresh kind I ordered, and so I can also mix the fresh stuff in when it comes. It is a mix of honey, royal jelly, and bee pollen. It is heavenly tasting however it has a strong bitter aftertaste. Is this normal? Has it gone bad? Is it bad for your body to eat spoiled royal jelly or bee pollen?

Royal jelly going bad?

Will royal jelly go bad if it is left on the counter for about 9 hours?

Angela's Comments:

I'm assuming this is a fresh frozen product Angel? If so, no. It is not bad. It may have lost a little bit of its potency but it is still well worth using in my opinion. Keep in mind it was in a frozen state so it would have taken several hours to de-thaw and likely remained cold or cool. It is fine...

Royal Jelly gone bad - 2 years in refrigerator?

by karl
(monterey)

i have had a jar of raw royal jelly refrigerated for 2 years. been away from it for that long. my question is is it still good for consumption? yes it has been refrigerated for that long.. that is it thank you for any responce that you may have pertaining to this question.

Angela's Comments:

Hi Karl,
2 years is quite a long time. I'd say that your royal jelly is no longer good. Ideally, it needs to stay frozen, so even though it was kept cold, it will have gone bad by now.

Royal jelly, pure, if opened and refrigerated, how long is it good for?

by Yorick
(London)

Hi. That is essentially my question. It was opened and used last year and has been kept in the fridge all that time. I am thinking using it again, will it still very strong or will it do any damage? Thanks Yorick

Hi Yorick,
It won't do any damage. At least it shouldn't if your fridge has maintained a cool temperature the entire time. We generally indicate a year in the fridge should be fine for fresh royal jelly for our products but it may be different for other brands in which you'd need to contact the company.

Bee healthy,
Angela
