Best product for cold/flu season?

by Kristy

Hello Angela,
Thank you for your website, I find it so helpful and I have learned so much from it. I have been ordering your bee pollen and so ho mish cream for a while now and love them both!
I truly believe in holistic, organic living and try my best to raise my kids that way. My kids are 3 & 5 and they both take your bee pollen and tolerate it well. From what I can tell from reading your site, it seems that propolis is best around this time of year.
My question is what product do you recommend to stay as healthy as possible during flu season? Is the bee pollen enough or should we be taking something else and if so what would make the propolis, for example, more beneficial that just taking bee pollen? Whatever you recommend I would ask if it's safe for my kids because they are really the ones I want to benefit from it.
I was also wondering if you ever offer any coupons or free shipping or free samples of your products to try? I just got done placing an order for more bee pollen and depending on what you write back I may be placing another order. I didn't think of these questions until after I ordered!!
Thank you so much for your time,
Kristy

Hi Kristy,
So glad you are enjoying our products! You are correct in that propolis is what I'd recommend with bee pollen for maximum immune protection. It is safe for kids to take but it does have a strong taste so it can be a challenge to get it into them! Our water based tincture tastes best so I do recommend that. Or, if you give them smoothies our powder mixes in very well. The other option you have is if they can swallow capsules, give them that version.

We do offer coupons - follow us on Facebook or sign up for our e-zine called The Buzz. You can do so here:

Hope that helps!

Propolis - Dosage for cold/flu treatment/prevention in children using propolis tincture

by eggMama
(Toronto Canada)

Hi,
I have 2 girls - 3 and 5 yo.

We have been taking propolis tincture (that is alcohol free and 30-40%) most of the time this past flu season (4 months) using mostly 1/2 of the adult dose. (Adult - 10-15 drops twice daily)

Is there anything I should be concerned with
re: side effects and concerns for prolonged use?

Thank you.

Angela's Comments:

Hi there,
Propolis is quite safe for long term use. I always recommend taking a break from any supplement during long term use. One month on, one week off or one week on, 2 days off are some examples of what you could do. The dose you have been using is smart. You could even use less to be ultra safe (depending on their physical weight/size)

Hope that helps,
Angela

Propolis dosage for strep throat

by Linda
(Dundas, Ontario)

Hi there! Love your shop and especially your honey:)
I just picked up the 20% then the 50% tincture and I’m confused of how much to take. I was thrilled to find this product so close to where I live because I know of the health benefits but, wow, I’ve never heard so many ways to take anything before in my life. I’d hate to take too much but, even with all that I’ve read, I’m not sure that you can. Here is some info about me if that will help. I weight 130lbs, I’m 34 years old and I’m fighting a reacurring strep throat and my immune system is taking a beating. I want to take the propolis in the best way possible but, I have no idea what that is. I’ve mixed the 20% in water and it worked ok but, the 50% wouldn’t mix. It just floated on the surface as a waxy residue. I dropped it directly into my throat and I must say it felt pretty weird like there was a waxy coating on my throat. Not sure if that is normal or not. If you could give my some guidance I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
Linda

Hi Linda,
Yes, I'd suggest using the 50% propolis for the strep throat. And yes, it will feel a bit waxy as propolis is quite resinous. Just try to point the dropper to the back of your throat when you take it and get it as far down as possible. I would suggest taking a full dropper 2 - 3 times per day until you've killed off the strep.
