Cancer - radiation and chemotherapy with propolis?
Can BP be taken as a supplement or throat spray during radiation chemotherapy to the throat and neck. My husb will start this next week. Pls advise ASAP it's s brutal area to be treated.

Hi Joy,
What you always have to be concerned about with when undergoing chemo and using supplements is the antioxidants protecting the cancer cells from from the chemo. Propolis is very high in antioxidants so this would be my concern. However, I do not know of any studies to suggest that propolis will in fact do this so it is a difficult question to answer. There are many studies on propolis indicating it has activity against cancer cells but I don't believe any of these were done with chemo or radiation. Ultimately, I'd recommend you speak with a cancer specialist who has an expertise using supplements during treatment. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
