Bee Pollen Dosage?

Hi Angela. I really like your site. I stumbled upon after buying some granules at Whole Foods. I had a question. After seeing one website suggest 1 whole tablespoon of granules, that's how I began. But I freaked out after seeing your site and some others allude to delayed allergic reactions. I took 1 tablespoon a day for about 5 days, but now I'm sort of scared. I don't THINK I have felt any adverse side effects. But of course, my mind is over-working and I'm asking myself, "Wait, can I breathe all okay? How's my heart?" Hahahaha. So today I only took a 1/4 teaspoon. I'm not in a hurry. Ad the last thing I want to do is go to the ER. I know you stated to start with a granule each day. Any suggestions?

Angela's Response:

Great question. While you probably should have started out with a few granules and worked your way up to a full tablespoon, the fact that you didn't experience any allergy symptoms after taking the full tablespoon for 5 days suggests that you tolerate bee pollen very well. I wouldn't worry about continuing with that dose. You likely would have experienced symptoms now if you were going too. But, if you'd like to play it safe, do as you're doing and take smaller doses going forward and work back up to a tablespoon over the next month. Once you're confident that you can tolerate a tablespoon, experiment with high amounts and see if you experience greater health and vitality. I take 2 tablespoons per day and sometimes more if I've exercised longer on a particular day.

Keep in mind, the reactions I've listed on the site are very rare and quite extreme. But they can happen so it is best to build up slowly with your bee pollen dosage.
