There is no way royal jelly could cause weight loss; Royal jelly causes weight gain
by: Anonymous

After reading any everyone else's comments here and doing my own research it's pretty conclusive that real jelly is causing weight gain it acts like a steroid hormone and increases estrogen in women. I too have developed a gut, but I am prone to bloating so I couldn't say for sure that it was caused by royal jelly.

but the way royal jelly has caused my cup size to increase out of control, I would say stay away from royal jelly, because the benefits do not outweigh this major drawback; it is impossible to lose breast tissue if it is fibrous, as it seems to be. Progressively, I have gone from a small B to a huge H++, and this was only taking one pill per day; only recently I started taking more to alleviate my illness symptoms but it's not even worth that. To the woman who asked: I took one pill per day, and it doesn't matter if it's on empty stomach, before breakfast or after a meal; I've done both and the weight gain results are the same and consistent; of course you will gain more weight the more you take per day. I hope this helps someone out there and it's really a pity because it also improved moisture retention my skin which applying it to pick anything at all also I am past menopause now.

I am getting harassed by men and I can imagine this will cause gynecomastia in men; anyone who tells you royal jelly promotes weight loss is flat-out lying to you in order to sell their stash! Sorry but think about it: a normal size bee grows to about three to four times their size, by eating this stuff. Enough is enough; it's really not worth it. Good luck everyone in your weight loss endeavors.

Royal jelly - causing me to gain weight?

by Laurel
(Illinois)

I had been taking RJ by soft gel just over a month and now suck it out of the casing to avoid ingesting the soft gel. Question: I seem to be gaining WEIGHT now?????? Would there be a correlation between having RJ daily? I'm finding myself wanting to eat when I'm not hungry!?!? I'm preferring more salt too. Once daily, I'm taking 1000mg, 6% 10HDA. Thank you!!

Angela's Comments:

Hi Laurel,
I'd be very surprised if royal jelly is causing you to gain weight or to eat more. What I would suggest is to stop taking the royal jelly for a week or two and see if you continue to experience this issue.

Royal jelly has actually been shown to balance blood sugar and aid in weight loss so it is unlikely that it is causing the opposite for you.

Let me know how things go.

Angela

Could this be causing my breasts to grow out of control?
by: Anonymous

I have been taking royal jelly on & off for years but the past few years my cup size has been growing out of control, even though I've lost weight everywhere else from a lot of walking. I recently picked up the bottle at his shop near me and increase my dosage to four or six pills per day due to my other extreme symptoms that it's alleviates however again there is increased growth there. Blood work indicated I have high prolactin levels and I suspect to a non malignant brain tumor, due to my other bizarre symptoms; could the royal jelly being increasing the tumor size causing my breasts to grow out of control? Unfortunately I'm unable to reduce their size via exercise and I'm extremely worried.

Royal Jelly and Weight Gain
by: SaudiBeeLover

I, by no mean a doctor or should give health related consultations. Just typing my own humble opinion.

I'm 27 and weighs 45 kilos.

I'm a petite guy and I have been suffering from this since my childhood. I tried going to the gym and workout but it was really hard to align that with nutrition, protein shakes etc, giving my circumstances back in the time (college, part time job etc.).

In addition, I have done some blood work in the past months and discovered that I had low vitamin D for years without knowing about it (My result: 6 UI. Normal Range: 30-70 UIs). Also, my thyroid TSH was high a little bit. High thyroid function = aggressive metabolism. Low thyroid function = obesity even if you eat an apple.

What adds to this complication, is that i'm a one-pack a day smoker. Smoking kills appetite and you got a hyper thyroid on the other side eating my muscles. I'm just barely surviving but I can't notice since I got used to it.

Before smoking i was skinny around the same body maybe little bit more. But I remember quitting smoking 2 years ago and my weight exploded. I gained 20 kilos in 3 weeks. I would think this happened of my age of 25 back then. I was not a smoker when I was a teenager but never had this case because teenagers are very energetic.

However, I started taking Australian royal jelly now (1000mg, I take 2 pills a day) while i'm smoking (I smoke now 3 or 4 cigs daily)! and guess what? i'm gaining weight fast.

At this moment, I weigh 52 kilos.

Once I started taking royal jelly. Other than weight gain. I started to understand why a queen bee is a queen. It is just stuff of magic! my energy levels, my blood flow. I mean I don't know, I feel like life came back to me.

Anyway, I wrote this long story to show that my case is different than yours and there could be complications to each case. It is not easy to say royal jelly makes you gain weight nor make you lose weight. It all depends on your situation. In addition, if you put on meat and fat easily, why would you go for the hardcore pills or creams? I mean in hundreds or thousands of milli-grams? The calories in such stuff away from its benefits are just so high. Stick with what fits you and is for your case!

Royal Jelly and body size
by: Anonymous

I have been taking Royal Jelly (in the form of cream) for a while now and have noticed an increase in my body size. Increase in breast size, legs and practically all over! I'm not too happy with the way I look or feel so will delete it from my diet to see if that makes any difference. Also taking a small drop of propolis and bee pollen as well. Although I don't like my body size at the moment, it seems to have done wonders to my skin.

Royal Jelly
by: Kelly

I took RJ in Italy and it came in a tiny bottle with a tiny spoon half the size of your little finger nail. You put this little spoon full under your tongue first thing in the morning. Here in Australia they tell you to take half a teaspoon which I have been doing under the tongue and I have developed a HUGE GUT!!!! I thought maybe it wasn't as pure so you had to take more but I think it is pure and half a teaspoon is far too much.
This is taking it in the pure cream form, not capsules.
Could I be right about this?

Weight Loss
by: Anonymous

I have been taking Royal Jelly as a combo pill with propolis and bee pollen for the last month. I have more energy and I have lost 4 pounds this month. I did have to cut back on the dose the bottle said as It caused kidney pain. When I cut back I was fine.

Weight Gaine & Increased Estrogen
by: Anonymous

I started to take Royal Jelly at the recommendation of my acupuncturist to help with fertility and energy. Yes, it did increase my energy, but it also added 6lbs and upped my estrogen levels. When I did my initial research, I did not see anything regarding either of those two as possible side effects. Now that I know to look specifically for that, I see where people take royal jelly to help put on weight AND that it has caused other women's estrogen levels to rise. I was preparing to start another round of Gonal-F with an IUI and had to postpone because of my raised estrogen levels. Since I have Hashimoto's Hypothyroid, it will not be easy to loose these 6lbs.

weight gain
by: Anonymous

I have also been taking royal jelly for a little over two months, and I think it has caused weight gain for me as well. I truly believe that it has increased my breast size, and I'm definitely not complaining about that. But I also have gotten a small "gut" that I'm not used to, and the only thing that I have done differently is added the royal jelly to my diet. The main reason why I began taking royal jelly in the first place was due to having a high FSH level. This impacts a women's ability to get pregnant and maintain a pregnancy. Before taking royal jelly, my FSH level was 16.5 and after 2 months it dropped to an astonishing 5.4!! So, despite the weight gain in my stomach, I'm still really happy with it because I believe that it will help me conceive. Fingers crossed!
