How to Dramatically Improve Your Underactive Thyroid in 60 days
Chances are that if you are reading this article about Low Thyroid Supplements, you fall into one of two categories:
One thing that I have found over the years of practicing holistic nutrition is how all of our organs are connected. I am constantly amazed at how much of a role the smallest gland/organ plays in our health and well-being. For example, the link between the thyroid and adrenal glands and stress levels is crucial. They work as a team to govern our energy levels, sleep/wake cycles, metabolism and much more. If we do not take care of these little glands we will walk around feeling dreadful, losing hair and gaining weight and wondering why.
Is this you right now?
If it is, I'm going to teach you how to support your thyroid AND how to start feeling better...in as little as 30 days! When your thyroid is working optimally, your body will 'hum' and you will start feel how you're supposed to feel, which is amazing!
What is Low Thyroid and How Does it Affect Me?
Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid makes hormones that control the way your body uses energy. It sits right below your Adams apple.
Having a low level of thyroid hormone affects your whole body. It can make you feel tired and weak. If hypothyroidism is not treated, it can raise your cholesterol levels and make you more likely to have a heart attack or stroke. Luckily, hypothyroidism is easy to treat.
Cases of low thyroid are rising especially for women with 20-25% of females having low thyroid, and 10% of males. The majority will go on thyroid medication for this.
The problem is that an additional 30% of people have sub-clinical or mild hypothyroidism. Most will have been told that their blood tests are fine and low thyroid is not to blame, but in fact it is running sub-optimally and needs some care and attention.
Symptoms of Low Thyroid
Do you have any of these symptoms?
If so, you need to keep reading.
Do You Have Sub-Clinical or Mild Hypothyroidism?
A TSH test is a lab test that measures the amount of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in your blood. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland. It tells the thyroid gland to make and release thyroid hormones into the blood.
When you get a blood test from the doctor, they are most likely testing your TSH levels. Some enlightened doctors will also measure the free T3 and T4 to get an idea of what is happening. T4 hormone can convert into the active T3 hormone.
In Canada you will be flagged if your TSH is above a 5.5. And in the US the range is 0.4-4.0. This makes the parameters of normal 0.5-5.5 or 0.4 – 4.0. It is not consistent Internationally.
If you have a TSH of 3.0, you may feel dreadful or have a tough time losing weight. This means your thyroid is a little sluggish or low functioning.
If a diagnosis of low thyroid is based solely on a TSH reading, without taking other symptoms into account, it may take 10 years before thyroid hormone levels drop low enough to trigger a mainstream diagnosis of low thyroid function. In the meantime, the person with low thyroid function symptoms will go through much unnecessary suffering. Make sure you go for your thyroid test first thing in the morning for more accurate results.
Which TSH Number is Best?
In a perfect world you TSH levels would be around a 2.0 or under. Some people feel better when their thyroid is at a 1.8, others 1.5 and some at 2.0. Note when you feel your best and record what that number is.
Many people suffer with mild or sub-clinical low thyroid function - their thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH, the hormone that stimulates your thyroid to make thyroid hormones) is greater than 2.0 IU/ml but less than the 5.5 IU/ml level indicative of hypothyroidism. As such they contend with the many symptoms of low thyroid function but are not being treated with medication. If you are trying to lose weight and have followed a healthy eating plan and exercised and still cannot lose a pound, you may have subclinical low thyroid function.
My Personal Experience With Low Thyroid
I suffered from this exact condition. Before my first pregnancy, my TSH number was at 3.8 which is considered normal range. It is not high enough for medication but enough to be a road block to pregnancy. I also suffered from some of the symptoms I listed above. Since I really wanted to get pregnant, I began taking the low thyroid supplements in my protocol. In a short time, I easily became pregnant with my first child.
After the birth of my first child, my TSH increased so I actually went on desiccated thyroid as well as the low thyroid supplements I recommend below. This combination left me feeling like a fog had been lifted! I felt like a new person...

The Low Thyroid Protocol
First of all, when on my protocol, you should not stop your thyroid medication - it is essential for providing adequate thyroid hormone. If you are on medication but still have the symptoms of low thyroid function, add the following nutrients for better conversion of T4 to the more active T3.
