How long do bee pollen granules last?

by Hilary
(London, UK)

I have just opened a glass jar of pollen grains which expired in 2003. They still have a nice smell but are a little bit stuck together. Are they safe to use?

Angela's Comments:

Hi Hilary,
If they have been frozen, they very well might be fine to consume. Examine the pollen for any signs of spoilage - smell, taste a small amount. If they have been stored at room temperature for 10 years, I wouldn't recommend consuming them.
