Bee pollen and birth control

I have been doing some research and I have read many mixed reviews. I wanted to start taking bee pollen because of all of the amazing health benefits but I am taking birth control. I have been on bee pollen for about three days without any side effects but I've read about many women complaining of cramping and spotting or a lack or a menstrual cycle all together. I have also read that bee pollen activates ovulation. I was hoping that you could give me a clear answer on whether or not it is safe to take birth control along with bee pollen. I obviously do not want to get pregnant and there isn't enough info on whether bee pollen will change the effectiveness of birth control.

Thank you for your time.

I know of no study or reliable information that suggests in any way that bee pollen reduces the effectiveness of birth control. That being said, I am not a pharmacist and don't know the intricacies of pharmaceutical drugs well. The best person to speak to on something like this is a pharmacist. In rare cases bee pollen can cause the issues you've mentioned yes. Again, this is quite rare. The best way forward for you is to speak with pharmacist and if given the go ahead, start out with very tiny amounts of bee pollen and increase slowly while monitoring your cycle.

Bee healthy,
Angela
