Is bee pollen pills safe while breastfeeding?

Great question. Virtually all supplement companies will tell you to NOT take bee pollen while breastfeeding. This is not because of any study that has been done but rather an extreme caution that is exercised towards pregnant and breastfeeding women. It has been my experience that most Doctor's will have you stop taking bee pollen during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well, mostly out of ignorance.

While I can not medically advise you on this, I can only offer my personal experience using bee pollen and other products of the hive during my own pregnancy and those of my clients. I personally used bee pollen during my entire pregnancy and while I was breastfeeding and did so safely. My child is perfectly healthy. My mother also consumed bee pollen during her 5 pregnancies and while breastfeeding. So it can be done safely. I do recommend you advise your Dr. of what you are taking if you do decide to consume bee pollen while breastfeeding. Expect him/her to advise you not to take it but know that there are many women out there taking pollen safely during this wonderful time.
