Bee allergy and breast feeding?
by: Chelle

My husband is allergic to honey bee stings and has .severe swelling to the site of the sting. Could that increase the chance of adverse reactions in my child if I consume the bee pollen while breastfeeding? Is the contraindication of bee pollen related to the no honey for babies advise? I am a non vaccinating mother and am looking to boost both of our immune systems. Any advise or tips would be appreciated?

Comments:

There is no bee venom in bee pollen and that is what your husband is allergic too. So, while I am not an allergist and you should always discuss what you are taking with a health care professional, there should be no issue of passing down an allergy to your child while breastfeeding. If you scan our forum you should see other questions and comments from women who have breastfed their baby and consumed bee products while doing so.

Yes! It's great for you and baby!

A highly educated and seasoned herbalist advised me that it's extremely beneficial to take bee pollen by the spoonful during all stages of pregnancy.

Angela's Comments:

I would agree. My mother consumed bee pollen during all of her pregnancies, as did I. Healthy babies all around. Not to say that bee pollen is the reason as their are countless factors, but the point is that it is very safe during this time.
