Bee Pollen caused vomitting?
Hello Angela
I had started taking a tsp or 2 of bee pollen about 2 wks ago. After 1 1/2 weeks, I'm at about 21 grams/day with no ill effects. This past friday, I'd had my regular servings but felt slight sharp pains in my stomach after consumption. Much like hunger pangs. The pains would last 10 minutes to an hour, depending on how much I consumed. Sunday, I had my regular bowl of cereal with about 2 tsp of pollen. After about an hour, I was in horrible pain. My wife was so afraid she wanted to take me to the hospital.I have a cast iron stomach and have not thrown up in 22 yrs. That ended Sunday. About an hour after puking, I slept for 4 hrs.
Today, things are happening on the other end. And I'm starting to feel better. Thanks for the condolence.
I assume a have some kind of flu. I've had flus before and was good enough to go to work.
What I cant figure out is what happened this time.
How can such a healthy food cause such pain?
Could it be Acidity or Alkalinity?
Expansion of pollen?
Reaction with virus?
I'm 44, 6', 185 lb and in very good shape. This makes no sense to me.
Do you have any ideas what would have cause such a reaction?
Thank you.
Sheldon
Hi Sheldon,
Its difficult to say exactly but I have seen this happen in the past when people cross over a certain threshold of consumption of both pollen and even royal jelly. The only way to truly know is to stop taking the pollen for a week and then re-introduce it. If you are able to replicate the symptoms, then you are either sensitive/allergic to it or you have a bad quality pollen. You may simply need to only consume 1 tablespoon per day and discontinue the higher amounts.
But you may also be correct in that you may simply have a stomach bug and your symptoms have nothing to do with your bee pollen consumption. Are you feeling any better now?
The other possibility is that your body went through a form of detoxification/elimination due to the pollen. This has been known to happen as well.
Hope that helps. Update me on your status if you have a moment.
